What is online banking?

Manage your money from anywhere with internet access. Our new site is safe and simple to use, and comes with lots of day-to-day banking services, such as making payments, transferring money, or buying prepaid airtime and data to name a few.

What do I need to get online banking?

  • A smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. The new online banking site works on all these devices
  • Already using our banking app? You can use your app sign-in details to access the new online banking too. No registration needed
  • Still using the old internet banking site? Soon we’ll automatically move you over to new online banking site. You don’t need to do anything

Getting started

  1. New to online banking? Create a profile with your unique username and password
  2. Link your Standard Bank card to your new profile. If you don’t have a card, you can apply for an account online
  3. Start banking

Is it secure?

  • More than ever. We regularly make security updates that keep your money and personal information safe 
  • You will need to enter a one-time PIN (OTP) for certain transactions

What can I do with online banking?

  • Quickly make once-off payments, beneficiary payments
  • Set up future and repeat payments
  • Simple international payments
  • Make inter-account transfers
  • Apply for a current account
  • Open savings & investment accounts
  • View and print statements
  • Buy prepaid products and services
  • Pay your traffic fines and municipal bills online
  • Overdraft limit increase

What are the costs?

  • Subscribing to online banking is free
  • Payments to accounts outside Standard Bank will incur a small fee. See our rates and fees for more

What’s happening to the old internet banking site?

  • We’re going to switch it off later this year
  • You don’t need to do anything, we’ll do it all for you
  • Your beneficiaries will move to the new site
  • For now, the old internet banking site will still be there for you to use
  • You may need to upgrade your browser. You will get a message advising you to do so if needed
