It's Woven Into Who We Are

The inaugural Standard Bank Art Lab exhibition, curated by Dr Same Mdluli (curator and manager of the Standard Bank Art Lab) brings together a bold group of artists working with tapestry to explore memory, identity, and collective storytelling.

These richly layered works draw on personal histories, cultural narratives, and tactile traditions—offering new ways of seeing and feeling through fibre and thread. It’s an exhibition that honours the past while stitching forward into the future. This exhibition spotlights tapestries from the Standard Bank Corporate Art Collection, the Standard Bank African Art Collection as well as tapestries loaned from the William Kentridge and Stephens Tapestry Studios.
