Standard Bank hosts 2nd Annual Volunteering Impact Awards
Standard Bank, the biggest bank in Africa by assets, recently hosted its second annual CSI Volunteering Impact Awards.
Launched in 2024, the awards serve to honour extraordinary efforts of Standard Bank employees and their supported organisations who go above and beyond to make a meaningful difference in communities across South Africa.
“At Standard Bank, we believe that real impact starts with the courage to care. Every day, across our organisation and beyond, extraordinary employees step forward, not for recognition, but to change lives, uplift communities, and bring hope where it’s needed most,” says Dr Kirston Greenop, Head of Corporate Citizenship at Standard Bank Group.
This year, over 3,000 committed volunteers in South Africa, have donated their time, skills and money - R1.18 million in 2025 - to just causes.
Standard Bank’s pioneering Rand4Rand Matching Programme enables the bank to match every Rand donated by its employees to charitable causes, effectively doubling their impact.
Since its inception, the program has raised millions of Rands, providing vital funding for a range of social initiatives focused on education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability.
The bank’s commitment to supporting and encouraging volunteering and matching donations proves that corporate responsibility goes far beyond financial support, creating a culture of care and active participation.
The awards, which were conceived to acknowledge impactful contributions to community service, are themed across five categories - Individual Excellence, Team Collaboration, the Changemaker, Dedicated Ambassador and the Future Leaders Award.
Each category carries an amount of R100 000 for the winner to donate directly to a cause they volunteered with during the calendar year.
