Standard Bank Group reaches 20 000 Rangers target… and counting
The Standard Bank Group recently marked a pivotal milestone in its digitisation journey when 20 000 staff members attained Salesforce Trailhead Ranger status - the highest rank one can earn on Trailhead during their learning journey.
Margaret Nienaber, Chief Executive: Client Solutions and Executive Sponsor of Salesforce at Standard Bank Group notes: “The Salesforce Trailhead platform is a great way for all employees to learn new skills and become future ready. We aim to build a team who is passionate about serving our clients and partners as well as providing superior solutions to meet their needs. We will continue to foster a growth mindset with emphasis on ensuring we take every single employee in the organisation with us on this journey of personal growth and adjusting to the future needs of clients. This was a wonderful experience of camaraderie to ensure we get everyone in our teams to achieve”
The Standard Bank Group acknowledges that there is a shift in the skills companies need today, a balance of technical skills to soft skills, for example, better human engagement. As the Standard Bank Group continues to develop engineering skills it acknowledges that sourcing critical engineering skills on the continent remains a huge challenge and the considered investment in and development of skills for the business and the broader society is critical.
Gavin Patterson, President and Chief Revenue Officer, Salesforce said: “Digitisation is key to powering future business growth and delivering sustained success in our new digital world revolves around everyone having the skills to participate. The ongoing engagement, education and advancement of Standard Bank Group employees on our Trailhead platform represents a phenomenal achievement. I’m certain Trailhead will continue to unlock new opportunities and innovation for the company and its people. Salesforce looks forward to supporting the next steps of Standard Bank Group’s exciting digital journey.”
Standard Bank Group has launched leading engineering skills development initiatives in partnership with Salesforce, Microsoft and Amazon on the continent. The hope is to build critical skills and empower African businesses to sustain Fourth Industrial Revolution transformation journeys.
Standard Bank has 80% of its workforce - 36 500 colleagues registered on the Salesforce Trailhead platform with more than 20 000 employees at Ranger status. The ambition to achieve a goal of 20 000 Rangers, the most globally, outside of Salesforce itself, was led by the CEO of Sim Tshabalala, who achieved his Ranger status early on and inspired all employees to embrace the challenge.
“The knowledge and skills that all our Salesforce Rangers have acquired are enabling us to understand our clients more deeply and serve them with more efficiency and more empathy. They are also helping us to build out from our solid foundation in traditional financial services to meet our clients where they are: on the digital platforms where they are shopping, socialising and doing business,” says Tshabalala.
At its core, Trailhead’s mission is to break down the barriers to learning and empower everyone to learn skills needed for the jobs of today and tomorrow – enabling the workforce of the future.
