Internal Audit's purpose is to 'Enhance trust to support sustainable growth'.

Consequently, Internal Audit provides independent and objective assurance and consulting services designed to enhance trust through transparency and add value to improve the Group's operations.

Internal Audit's mission is to enhance and protect organisational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight. Internal Audit assists the Group to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management and the internal control environment, and plays an important role in the combined assurance model.

The scope of the work undertaken by Internal Audit extends to all Group entities, subsidiaries, joint ventures, outsourced activities and partnership arrangements.

Internal Audit offers various areas of specialisation, amongst these are:
Technology & Cyber Auditing:

This requires meticulous scrutiny to ensure systems operate efficiently, securely and compliantly. This area covers the assessment of IT Governance, It policies, procedures and controls to align with business objectives and regulatory requirements. This team analyses infrastructure robustness, data integrity and cyber, providing independent and objective assurance over liquidity and funding risk, covering Treasury and Capital Management. This includes security protocols to mitigate risks.

Data and Modelling:

This function plays a crucial role through leveraging statistical models to analyse vast data sets, detecting anomalies and patterns with the goal of improving risk assessments and decision-making. Predictive modelling can forecast the future and simulate scenarios to test controls and evaluate potential impact. This function is at the forefront of proactive risk management and operational improvement in an organisation.

Treasury & Capital Management:

Assessing risk to inform the audit plan, audit scoping, testing and reporting, and developing subject matter expertise in capital management, including specialised knowledge in regulatory capital.
